Steps to Writing and Maintaining an ADA Self-Evaluation Plan
Sessions 1 & 2. Don Brandon, Director of the Disability and Business Technical Assistance Center, will be the presenter for the first two sessions (January 7 & 14). He served as the first System Wide ADA Coordinator for the University of Alaska from 1993 to 1997 and then as the State of Alaska's ADA Coordinator from 1997 to 2007. He assisted in writing the Self Evaluation for the City of Anchorage, and has reviewed several smaller city government responses to the ADA. Don has worked with the US DOJ's attorneys investigating local government compliance during Project Civic Access. He understands the unique challenges of compliance under Title II of the ADA and has worked diligently to demystify the ADA requirements for local government officials for over 15 years.
Don is an expert on reasonable accommodations, accessible design and implementatio, and systematic program review and evaluation. He has advanced skill in mediation of ADA disputes in employment and accessibility. Don is a gifted trainer and motivator of professionals, bringing a down-to-earth style that invigorates and enlightens participants on disability issues.
